It's no surprise that when you're at the shops, picking up some beauty "essentials", it's easy to get distracted by all the other makeup and skincare items nearby. I present to you my latest collective haul - where I definitely got side-tracked. I must admit though, I was pretty good in being focused on getting what I needed - I just picked up some extra bits out of pure curiosity!
First things first, this was what I had on my 'MUST BUY NOW' list:
- Heat Protectant
- Backup of Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream
- MAC Brush Cleanser
What I ended up purchasing:
- All of the above (YES!)
- Chantecaille Le Stylo Ultra Slim Liquid Eyeliner
- Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy Lipstick
I will start with my first ESSENTIAL. I was in desperate need of a heat protectant, since the beginning of Summer actually. Little did I know that the Tresemmé selection was very limited in Hong Kong, otherwise I would not have thrown out my old one that I got from Boots (at such a good price!). I ended up seeing this one from Fekkai at Joyce Beauty and after inquiring about the price, I decided to purchase it. The brand Fekkai has always been at the back of my mind, I have definitely seen the name on someone's blog somewhere but I was never convinced. As I was out of options, I decided to pick this up and give it a try.
Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream (highly recommend!)
My second ESSENTIAL was a backup of the Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream (which I have reviewed here). I can't confess my love for it enough. As ridiculously expensive as it is, I could not help but purchase another one as it has gotten to the point where it is daunting to imagine even just one day without this moisturizer. It is a beautiful consistency, moisturizing, reduces inflammation and extremely soothing for the skin. Love the product, dislike the price.
MAC Brush Cleanser
The last and probably the least interesting ESSENTIAL I had to purchase was the MAC Brush Cleanser. I have to admit, I am the lazy type of person who would refuse to wash her makeup brushes until they are ALL dirty, and then reluctantly drag myself up the stairs and take care of the brushes with some Johnson's Baby Shampoo. As a daily spot treatment, I have been constantly using this brush cleanser to temporarily clean my brushes. I like that it's not badly priced and it does the job well. Simple as that.
Firstly, can we take a moment to appreciate the gorgeous, sleek packaging? The Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy lipsticks claim to be a 'CC' lipstick, providing both care and color. Much as I agree this was a NAUGHTY purchase, I'm satisfied as some of you may know, beautiful packaging draws me in like a magnet. Speaking of magnets, I love how the cap is magnetic (not that it makes a huge difference), and the color actually comes out as a bright coral red.
I ain't gonna lie, I actually wanted a new eyeliner. Apart from the Bobbi Brown gel liner (which is off my 'favorite' list, by the way), I have not found a single eyeliner that provides great durability and easy application. I gave this one a try at the counter, and I was pretty pleased with how quickly the line dried. The extra slim brush makes application more precise and I would highly recommend this for Asian eyes.
So that wraps up my little shopping haul. I hope you enjoyed and if you would like me to review any of the products above, do let me know!
