This one is another beauty post, but the next one will be fashion-related... I promise! So I have changed my skincare routine (in case those of you have watched my Skincare Routine video previously) and I have been a little more daring in terms of choosing skincare products.
Side note, I have been on and off on YouTube recently simply because I just can't physically fit filming and editing into my hectic schedule - I also prefer to film good quality videos and as the old sayin' goes - 'quality rather than quantity' right? Blogging is slightly less time consuming although I do try to maintain the quality of my blog posts.
DAY ROUTINE
I have been very bad and forgot to bring my cleanser home with me, but it is still the same Sisley White Lily Milk Cleanser and Cle de Peau Gentle Foaming Cleanser (as mentioned in the video) so we will skip to toners!
The first toner I apply is the Laneige Refiner for Sensitive skin. I have used up two of these in the past four years or so, and sometimes for a while after finishing them, I would tell myself I did not need it anymore - but I always find myself coming back to this! Along with the Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist, the two products blend to create a beautiful formula to relieve my sensitive skin and help prep my skin for the rest of my routine.
I then follow up my toner with an emulsion to prep my skin for serums. In Hong Kong I began using the DiorSnow line that my sister stopped using - and I'm actually starting to like it! My skin has gone a shade brighter just after a week and I'm pretty sure it was due to the continuous use of the DiorSnow line as I do not use any brightening serums or masks. This emulsion feels very light on my skin and is perfect for the daytime. It does have a hint of alcohol smell so if you have super sensitive skin I would not recommend using this. However it does not aggravate my skin at all.
I incorporate one extra emulsion into my day and night skincare routine to alleviate my sensitive skin. Like the Laneige skin refiner, I keep coming back to this product, knowing I can trust it to protect my skin from allergies or sensitivity. It almost acts as a shield and balances my skin tone out.
Next I apply a hydrating serum. I helped my friend get this product from Boots, and after seeing reviews on Makeupalley, I decided to try it for myself. Compared to the B5 gel I use, the Indeed Labs Hydraluron is not as hydrating, however is sufficient for the day time, particularly for the Summer and humidity in Hong Kong. I love the simple, no-nonsense packaging and it has an extremely light consistency.
To keep my day skincare routine to a minimum, I finish off with a lotion, also from the DiorSnow line. This lotion, also given to me by my sister, is more of a 'meh' product for me. It's not particularly amazing apart from its brightening effects, but I don't like wasting products which is why I wanted to finish it off. It has a thicker consistency, but doesn't leave your skin feeling icky, sticky and gooey.
I then finish off with an eye-cream from Dior. I got this as a set with my night serum at Duty Free for a better price compared to getting them separately at a Dior counter, and I'm actually starting to like it. Obviously, it takes a while to see the effect of a good eye cream, but apart from the lightweight consistency, I feel that the skin under my eyes are more plump and smooth.
EVENING ROUTINE
So for my evening routine, I start off with the same toners and Laneige Balancing Emulsion (skipping the DiorSnow emulsion).
After hardcore research on this product, searching high and low for reviews, I decided to purchase this at Duty Free. Although it's a little too soon to tell, I have enjoyed using this product firstly because it did not break me out, and secondly, it didn't give me allergic reactions despite its serum strength. It is known to double the effectiveness of your skincare routine and help you achieve younger looking skin. I feel like my skin has better elasticity since using this product, but once again I don't want to review this product simply because I haven't used it enough to reach a conclusion yet. Consistency is great, the price.. not as much.
I then apply the DiorSnow Anti-Spot serum which is slightly stronger for the night time. I used a sample of this prior to purchasing the full size and I loved it so much I could not live without it for one night - had to go out to buy it even though it was snowing. Since finishing my Erno Laszlo Morning Rescue serum, I have been using this to help me achieve better looking skin in the morning. Now when I wake up, I don't have dull looking skin, instead my skin is naturally radiant when I wake up, which is why I love this product so much. By now you can probably tell that I love light products and this is perfect for the night time, especially when my evening routine consists of more products.
This is my holy grail item - the skincare product I CANNOT live without. This has helped my skin so much and I'm not even exaggerating! The reason my skin has been acting up with skin allergies was due to the dryness and since using this B5 gel, my skin has been so much stronger. I was able to use a wider variety of products without having to worry about whether it would break me out or not, and I am 99.9999% certain that this was the product that had helped me out so much. I used to use the SkinCeuticals B5 gel but I think this one works even beter. My skin is able to absorb this like a vacuum where the SkinCeuticals one stays on the surface of my skin.
Lastly I finish off my face with the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream.
Not much to say about this product as I am near to finishing it. Although it is my second one, I don't think I will be repurchasing this again as I think that all it does is maintain my skin but does not necessarily improve it. It helps with the hydration but I'm not a huge fan of the thick consistency. I can't wait to finish this so I can use a different cream.
I then apply a bit of the Dior eyecream as mentioned previously and that is my skincare routine done.
